As part of the “Sixty and Solar” campaign, Bill Nye, the Science Guy, emceed a solar project dedication ceremony at Bob’s Big Boy restaurant in Burbank, Calif.
In 2009, Bob’s Big Boy, a California historic landmark building where diners have enjoyed hamburgers since 1949, celebrated sixty years in business by installing a commercial solar project on location in Burbank. TerraCurrent CEO Glenna Wiseman, who was then VP of marketing at an industry-leading solar system supplier, helped develop the “Sixty and Solar” PR campaign, bringing together the company’s history with its commitment to modern, clean energy.
The campaign featured a website, video, a live event, press releases, a partnership with Habitat for Humanity in San Fernando, and much more. Results included media mentions in New York Magazine, ABC7 Los Angeles, KFWB News Talk Radio 980, and many local news outlets. The dedication ceremony drew participation from Bill Nye, the Science Guy, as master of ceremonies, special recognition from California State Senator Carol Liu, and a congratulatory message from actor Ed Begley, Jr.
